Terms of Service

Last updated October 20, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the 501Nonprofit.com website (the "Site") and the services we provide (the "Services"). "501Nonprofit.com," "we," "us" and "our" refer to the operator of the Site. By using the Site you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

1. Not a government agency

501Nonprofit.com is a private company. We are not the Internal Revenue Service or any state agency and are not affiliated with any government agency. Forms such as the EIN application are available directly from the IRS at no charge.

2. General information only

Guides, tools and other content on the Site are general information about federal and state rules for nonprofit organizations. They are not legal, tax or accounting advice for your situation, and using the Site does not create a client relationship. Rules, forms, fees and processing times change; check the official source before acting.

3. The free tools

The calculators give estimates based only on the answers you enter. They are not IRS determinations, and they do not cover every rule or exception. You are responsible for decisions you make using them.

4. Services

When you engage us, the scope of work, fixed fee and timing are set out in a written proposal or engagement agreement, which controls if it conflicts with these Terms. In general:

  1. Your information. You agree to give us complete and accurate information and to review every document before it is signed or filed. Your organization's officers sign applications and filings and are responsible for their contents.
  2. No guarantee of outcome. The IRS and state agencies decide whether to approve an application and how long it takes. We cannot guarantee approval, a particular classification or a processing time.
  3. Government fees. IRS user fees, state filing fees and registration fees are separate from our fees and are paid by your organization.
  4. Deadlines. Some deadlines, such as the 27-month window for retroactive exemption, depend on information you provide. Tell us your formation date and any deadlines you know of at the start.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the Site, interfere with its operation, attempt to access it in unauthorized ways, or submit false, unlawful or harmful content through its forms.

6. Intellectual property

The Site's content, design and code belong to us or our licensors. You may read, print and share pages for non-commercial purposes with attribution. You may not copy the Site or republish substantial parts of it without permission.

The Site links to government and third-party websites for reference. We are not responsible for their content or availability.

8. Disclaimer and limitation of liability

The Site is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages arising from your use of the Site. Our total liability for any claim related to the Services is limited to the fees you paid us for the Services giving rise to the claim.

9. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. The date at the top shows when they last changed. Continued use of the Site means you accept the updated Terms.
