About 501Nonprofit.com

We help people turn a charitable idea into a properly formed nonprofit with federal tax exemption, and we explain each step in plain English so founders and boards understand what they are signing.

What we do

501Nonprofit.com focuses on the work at the start of a nonprofit's life and the structure that keeps it healthy afterward. We prepare articles of incorporation and bylaws, organizational minutes and the EIN application; the federal exemption application on Form 1023 or Form 1023-EZ; Form 1024 and Form 8976 for other kinds of exempt organizations; charitable solicitation registrations and state tax exemption applications; and the governance policies the IRS asks about. When an organization has lost its exemption, we help it choose the right reinstatement path. See our services.

We work with founders of charities, churches, foundations, community groups, schools and arts programs, social welfare organizations and associations across the United States.

How we work

  • A plan and a fixed quote first. You tell us where things stand; we tell you what the organization needs, in what order and what it costs. Nothing starts until you approve.
  • Documents that fit your mission. Articles, bylaws, policies and the application narrative are written for what you will actually do, so they tell the IRS one consistent story.
  • You review before anything is filed. State filings and IRS applications are submitted only with your approval and an authorized officer's signature.
  • Plain English throughout. We explain what each document does and what it commits the organization to.
